This ball pein hammer is made from urethane rubber, it has wood effect ingrained into the shaft and even has "hickory" stamps etched in for added realism, the hammer can be supplied in two versions the "standard" version is a single colour moulding and you can then add colour or effects yourself to the item to make a really individual or custom piece. Alternatively you can order the "realistic" option where the hammer head is coloured with a metallic finish in the moulding process and the shaft moulded from a brown urethane rubber meaning that the colour cannot rub of the handle, this option will also accept further FX painting for customisation if required.
The hammer is designed to flex slightly when swung but this is not apparent either in live action or on film, it is robust and not brittle as with some cheap blow moulded options that may be available and it will not shatter.
